Installation as Teaching

Toward Renewal and Belonging: Art, Movement & Community

“To speak of knowledge is futile. All is an experiment and adventure. We are forever mixing ourselves with unknown qualities” (Virginia Woolf, 1931, 2015).

These words speak to the quality of the journey introduced in my Installation Design. A series of artworks and designed moments engage participants in an embodied and creative self-reflective journey.

My approach to art education focusses on enhancing creativity by offering safe and hospitable learning environments for body and mind. The invitation is to reach past obstacles which may be held in physical tension resulting from internalized critical narratives. The installations’ teaching methods and narratives build on pedagogical principles which are foundational for emotional and physical safety creating space for participants fullest potential for creativity revitalizing their lives and the community.
