Born and raised in the Black Forest region of Germany, Ingrid now resides on Bowen Island in British Columbia, Canada. Ingrid Hauss has been in the performing and visual arts all her life. Influenced by the artists of the Bauhaus Era and Marc Chagall, by her studies, work and teaching in theatre and movement, she breathes, lives and moves with colour and form as her vibrant tool of creative story-telling and teaching. In her artistic process, her texts and images act as narrators of the known, unknown and beyond.
Ingrid received her Masters in Education (Art Education) from the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Her Masters-Thesis entitled Toward Renewal and Belonging: Art, Movement and Community combines Ingrid’s arts-based research, teaching and creative imagination with the somatic, spiritual, artistic and psychological dimensions of her interdisciplinary work. Her most recent article integrating her art and prose was published in Presence: International Journal for Spiritual Direction, Issue December 2017. Her touring Installation including the “Breathing Meditations Series” of her artworks was presented at the Global Congress for Art Education (InSEA; 2019) at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Her art has been shown in Switzerland, Germany, the United States and Canada.
